The Optimal Approach To Drop Weight For Life

So many diets fail because too many people think of them merely as a way of fixing their weight problem. They look for a rapid solution to drop their excess fat and diets that promise quick weight loss or have names like the twelve day grapefruit diet are attractive.

The problem is that when their transitory diet is over almost everyone resumes their way of living that caused their overweight problem originally. When they add back the pounds they dropped, it’s clearly the diet that failed them.

While a short-term diet may help in the beginning, the only way to permanently drop weight and keep it off is to make a lifestyle modification.  This is a permanent change that changes the way you eat, think about food, and exercise.  This change includes eating healthful foods in the proper proportions to reduce your caloric intake.  It requires you to become nutrition minded in choosing foods. And, it demands that you to obtain more exercise and tone your muscles.  These are permanent commitments that will elevate your body’s metabolism and lessen your intake of fatty foods.

Overall, you need to boost your metabolism to burn additional calories and enhance your fat burning ability. There are essentially two ways to do this.

The first way is through cardiovascular and muscle toning exercises. Muscles burn calories during exercise, so toning or building up your muscles is significant.  Aerobic exercises for 20 minutes or more get your fat burning process into high gear.  Moreover, not only will your fat burning process improve, but you’ll feel better during the day and wake up feeling more vibrant and alive.

Since you feel more energetic, you’ll want to walk more, climb more stares and in general get more exercise in your daily routine. All this activity produces an increased metabolism rate and results in burning additional calories all day long.

The second way to improve your metabolism is to eat smaller meals all day long. Eating five or six small meals a day keeps your digestive system functioning and reduces the spike in blood glucose levels that make your feel tired and lethargic. Your body won’t sense that it is getting too much food and start converting the excess food to fat as a reserve.  The traditional three meals a day habit sets your body in the feast and famine mode that automatically causes fat gain and a cycling of your metabolism from fast to slow.

These small meals don’t have to be large traditional meals.  Think of them as nutritious snacks that give you energy for the next couple of hours.  So, instead of a sandwich with some fruit for lunch, eat half a sandwich, then eat your fruit an hour or two later, and have the other half of your sandwich an hour later.  You’ve eaten the same amount of food, but kept your digestive process going and helped to smooth out your glucose level so you continue to feel energetic. And, you won’t feel like you need a “pick-me-up” sugary snack that adds unnecessary calories.

By enhancing your diet with healthful, reduced caloric foods and by raising your metabolism through exercise you will both lose weight and keep it off. With your new style of living choices, you will then say “Hello” to the new, slimmer you.
