Tips To Shake Off Those Calories

One sure way to lose weight effectively is by adopting a more active lifestyle. Couple with good eating plan, you are on the way to a better sense of health and well-being.
The more active you are in daily life, the better you will feel.

Many people use the excuse that they don’t have the time and energy to exercise and take steps towards an active lifestyle. The irony of this excuse is that exercise and an active lifestyle are important ways to boost your energy level and give you a fresh, healthy perspective on life in general!

In fact, active lifestyle doesn’t mean you need to join a gym and  walk off the pounds on the treadmill. You can be active anywhere, just don’t limit yourself and do away with the excuses. Here are some of the things you can do to be more active and lose that weight:

At home
1. Do housework yourself instead of hiring someone else to do it.
2. Work in the garden or mow the grass.
3. Go for a short walk before breakfast or after dinner.
4. Walk to the store instead of driving.
5. When walking, pick up the pace from leisurely to brisk.
6. Pedal a stationary bike as you watch television.
7. Get up and get your own drink. Do not ask someone to bring you a drink.
8. Stand while talking on the telephone. Move around, if it is a cordless phone.
9. Park farther away from the shopping mall or market. Walk the extra distance.
10. Stretch to reach items in high places and squat to look at items on the floor.

At the office
1. Stand or move around while talking on the telephone.
2. Walk down the hall to talk to your colleague instead of using the telephone.
3. Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
4. Get off the elevator a few floors early and walk up the stairs the remainder of the way.
5. Walk while waiting for your taxi or plane.
6. Join a sports team.
7. Participate in recreational activities at work.
8. Join a fitness center near your work place.
9. Get off the bus a few blocks away and walk the rest of the way to work or home.
10. Walk around the building for a break during work or during lunch.

Stay exercising though life
Choose activities that are fun, not exhausting.
1. Add variety. Try not to rely on one activity, but develop a few that you can enjoy. That way, exercise will never seem boring or routine.
2. Find a convenient time and place to exercise.
3. Use music to entertain you as you exercise.
4. Exercise with a friend.
5. Do not overdo exercise.
6. Increase duration and intensity of exercise gradually.
7. Make your daily life activities count for more.
8. Keep a record of your exercise activities.
9. Reward yourself at special milestones

3 Tips To Lose Weight The Easy Way!

Losing weight is often associated with the fact that you need to eat boring tasteless meals and then burning out the calories for hours at the gym. It is not a fun thing to do and before you know it, many people fell by the wayside.

However, there are ways to work around your diet program and maintaining the regime rather easily. Here are some…

1. Set small goals: Most people are unable to achieve their weight loss goals because they always think big. Most would probably set their goals very high, that is to lose a lot of pounds in a shortest possible time. There is nothing wrong with thinking big, but don’t make your goals so big as though they become overwhelming and intimidating to you! Just remember that if you stretch your weight loss goals so far, more often than not you would feel tempted to quit your weight loss program altogether! Start slow and smartly and before you know it you will see how easy it is to shed those stubborn pounds!

2. Be reasonable: Yes, do not attempt weight loss program that require you to change your lifestyle overnight. Yu should know your body and limitations. Do not be overzealous as it would only back-fired. For example, if today I ask you to avoid eating junk foods altogether, will you be able to follow my advice? You will probably try hard to avoid junk foods for a day or two, and by doing that, you will be all the more tempted to take a bite of your favorite fatty foods. As a result, you’ll end up gaining more pounds than what you started with! What a waste!

Here is an easier way to do it: instead of trying to cut down on your junk food intake entirely, try to replace one junk food with one good food. Do you normally take butter? Well, substitute that with peanut butter. Then later, swap burgers with a healthier snack like raw carrots! Similarly, if you eat white breads, slowly replace that with wholegrain wheat breads.

You won’t be able to accomplish all of these changes overnight, but you will be able to achieve your goals if you do it slowly, bit by bit. Eventually you will realise that you have completely replaced your bad foods with the healthy foods, but without going through any stress or temptation!

3. Exercise: Or at least adopt a more active lifestyle. It’s time for you to get moving. Start walking. Join a gym. Play a game. Do whatever necessary to get you sweat. Choose an exercise program that is appropriate for your:
Health status
Fitness level
Abilities
As in the eating plan, do be reasonable when you are exercising too. You should know your body and don’t overdo it.

As you can see, weight loss doesn’t have to be hard and scary. Follow the three tips above and see how easily you shed those extra pounds!

Tips To Control Your Food Intake In Weight Loss

Contrary to popular belief, just because you want to lose weight doesn’t mean that you have to starve. Many people tend to starve or follow crash diets but nothing beats eating the right way and losing weight. I believe that if you eat the right foods, you will not only lose weight but also become healthy.

Like many people, I too have been following various eating plan that resulted in my weight going up and down. And then my friend told me that I’ve been doing all wrong. I should just eat what I’m used to eat and not simply something that I’ve  never come across just because a certain weight loss program told me to do so.
All you need to do is to adopt some restrains when you are eating. Or be smarter when you are at the dining table. Here are some of the tips to smarter meals…

Decrease your portions by half
Good news: You can lose weight and still enjoy your favorite foods.  You can do that by decreasing your portion sizes by half.  Take your typical dinner serving and decrease it by half. If you feel hungry afterwards, try supplementing your meal with fresh fruit or vegetables on the side.  Drink a lot of water. Eat slowly. After you eat, wait a few minutes to allow yourself to feel full.  You will probably notice you don’t feel the urge to eat as much.

Don’t eat a three-course meal at restaurants
When dining out, watch how much you are eating.  Most restaurants serve huge portions for the main course.  Eating an appetizer, main course, and desert is too much food. Many restaurants offer lunch size portions of their dishes, which are smaller than their full-size dinner entrees.

Don’t biggie-size anything
Fast food portions are normally too large.  Upsizing meals give you extra food you don’t need.  If you decide to eat fast food (which you shouldn’t actually), order the regular size or better still the kiddies size.

Start Reading Labels
Look carefully at the serving size for your food.  Find out how many servings you are actually consuming.  You will soon know how to measure a serving size simply by looking at the food.

No Buffets!!!
It is nearly impossible to practice portion control in an “all-you-can-eat” situation. Many individuals mistakenly eat as much as possible in a buffet.  This is not good for someone on a diet.

Is Fasting Good For Weight Loss

For many people, yours truly included, fasting is an effective way to lose weight. Overeating or eating too fast, feeding cravings and emotions not hunger, eating calorie-concentrated foods with lack of physical activity, all lead to unwanted weight-gain.

Much of what we eat feeds cravings and addictions rather than nutritional needs.  The problem with feeding a craving is two-fold: we crave all the wrong things, fat, salt and processed sugar.  When is the last time you had a “big carrot attack”?  The second problem is, cravings cannot be satisfied, hence we overeat far too much of the wrong kinds of food.

This is where fasting can help and is a great new beginning.

My own experience was no exception. I still remember when I was starting on my diet many years ago where I was having problem to stick to it.

As I love food so much, refraining from eating and forcing myself to eat something else (you know like the greens and in small portion) was really a gargantuan task.

Finally I decided to fast. Somehow, as I grew up fasting constantly due to my religion requirement I find fasting rather easy. I fast I did and in no time, I started to lose weight.

One thing for sure is fasting provides a tangible starting point for any of us to kick off our weight loss program. It’s probably like a marriage where there must be a divorce before there can be remarriage. Interestingly, most people are more intimately involved with their eating than they are with their spouses.

So, fasting effectively serves the ‘divorce papers’ to your former food-lovers. There is remorse, yearning, some testify to loneliness, as if an old friend has died.  Makes sense, addiction is always there, waiting to comfort empty emotions, a comfort that comes at a great price.

Clear starting points are important to change.  Over years of compromise you may have effortlessly fallen into physical disrepair.  Moving toward health is an uphill climb, demanding a strong exercising of your will-muscle.  Fasting is a great way to start working that muscle out.

And fasting will build powerful momentum, from a dead standstill to exciting motion. We all need a push in the right direction, fasting is just that.

Having said that, never use fasting as your primary source of keeping weight off.  The secret is to learn how to fast healthy and eat healthy.  You fast to lose weight, than you eat in a way to keep the weight off.  That’s balance.

Happy Fasting!

Raise Your Metabolism With Calorie Shifting

The one thing that most modern diets have in common is the goal of raising your metabolism. By changing the amount of food you eat or changing your actual eating patterns, your metabolism is often affected. Calorie shifting is slightly different. It focuses on alternating the amount of calories you eat during each meal in order to boost your metabolism in a very short period of time.

When you try to lose weight by eating less calories, your body will naturally begin to shift towards “starvation mode”. It thinks that your are actually starving, so it reduces your metabolism in order to conserve energy. This is why most people who try to lose weight by simply eating less food will often fail. Calorie shifting diets are meant to trick your system into raising it’s metabolism naturally by eating several meals per day, each of different caloric value.

For example, you could eat one two small meals, follow those with a larger meal and end the day with another small meal. Your body will never reach the starvation point. Since there is always food in your stomach, your body will constantly be working on the process of digestion and need to have it’s metabolism as high as possible in order to keep this vital process going.

Creating a menu and sticking to it is important for calorie shifting to be successful. Snacking should be avoided at all costs. Try to eat at least four times per day and make sure you eat different amounts of calories each time. Also make sure to keep your menu fairly healthy with grains, fruits and vegetables.

Check out the most foolproof diet I’ve ever come across, the calorie shifting diet. By tricking your body into increasing it’s metabolism naturally, you’ll be able to shed off pounds while still being able to eat pretty much whatever you want. Do your genes affect your weight?

As people have become more aware of genetics, a number of myths have been born. The most common is that the genes you inherit from your parents fix your body type and, no matter what you do, you cannot change it. This makes genetics a very convenient excuse when people are looking to explain why their latest diet is a failure. The reality is rather different. Genetics is science looking at the process that enables each new generation to inherit characteristics from the parental generation. People are deceived into believing that this science is very precise when researchers announce they have identified a particular gene responsible for an inherited disease. Science fiction stories have popularized the idea that parents will soon be able to order designer babies. Now the authors who are looking to sell their latest diet books have begun to push the idea that one size does not fit all genetic types. Rather, every individual has to assess their “genetic type” and then choose the most effective diet. The myth is being spread that basic human chemistry does not work in the same way across all human beings. “Experts” claim that people absorb carbohydrates, fat and protein in different ways. This difference can be measured by blood type, fingerprints and inside leg measurement, among other factors. Diets and exercise programs can be designed for individuals based on these factors. It seems science can help people lose weight.

Except, as in all cases, the myths are completely false. This is the old nature/nurture debate redesigned to fit into a newly recognized science. At present, there’s absolutely no evidence to show that the presence or absence of particular genes has any effect on obesity levels. No matter what the advertizers try to tell you, there’s no DNA/gene test to tell you anything useful about how to diet. The only evidence currently available that is relevant and of potential interest is that some genes do affect behavior including how quickly people feel full after eating. Obviously, if some people are slower to recognize their stomachs are full, they are more likely to overeat.

So how should people aim to lose weight? There’s one truth amongst all the myths. One-size does not fit all. The foods I like to eat may be the food you dislike the most. To keep up motivation for the diet, you do not just eat the same 1300 calories as everyone else. You should tailor the diet to your own likes and dislikes. If you put together a net-loss calorie menu including varieties of foods you like, you are far more likely to keep to the diet without getting bored. Now add in phentermine to keep your appetite in check, and you have made a good start to losing weight. Phentermine will overcome any genetic barrier to recognizing a full stomach. It’s the tried-and-tested drug that safely and effectively gives you control over the quantity you eat. With some exercise to burn additional calories, you will slowly see the pounds fall away.

Diet Pills

The old ways are the only game in town

This October saw yet another medical device fail in a high-profile clinical trial. Alongside the pharmaceutical industry, manufacturers have been designing devices to help people lose weight. Why? Well, with obesity reaching epidemic proportions around the world, there are millions of people “out there” waiting to buy something that will help them shed unwanted pounds. Everyone wants a quick and easy solution to an age-old problem: how do you lose weight without any change in your lifestyle? Everyone wants to keep on eating without paying the price in extra pounds. Unfortunately, just as there’s no sign of a magic bullet drug that will burn away those unwanted pounds, the latest scientific implant has also failed. It has been deja vu all over again. The pre-trial hype claimed this revolutionary device would use technology to suppress appetite. If people do not feel hungry, they will eat less and lose weight. The result? The device proved absolutely safe. Why? Probably because the device had no measurable effect on the bodies of those who tried it out.

This latest failure forces everyone back to the real world. There are no drugs in the development pipeline to save people from themselves. There are no magic machines you can wave over your body or have a surgeon implant. The only way to lose weight is to eat a sensible diet and exercise. The hard rule is that you have to burn more calories than you eat. In the stock exchange, the share price of the latest manufacturer to claim a miracle treatment fell by almost 80% when the news of failure was announced. Reading this, your spirits have also fallen sharply. This is sad news. Indeed, this is why most people fail to lose weight. They get depressed when weight does not fall off. They give up the “unequal struggle” with their waistlines. The necessary lifestyle changes never materialize.

The problem starts when you’re young. You’re surrounded by unhealthy food and it comes in giant portions. Worse, your parents now have the money to pay for this food. Go back fifty years and there was less money around. Parents struggled to put food on the table. Most people grew up thin. By a curious coincidence, fifty years ago saw the release of phentermine into the weight loss market. This was a revolutionary drug designed to reduce appetite. Now that the world desperately needs a way to help people lose weight, phentermine is still the drug of choice. Except there’s just one small problem. All phentermine does is to reduce your appetite. This leaves you with the hard lifting. You still have to change your eating habits and eat smaller portions of healthier food. The most weight will only be lost if you also exercise. The need is still to burn more calories than you eat. If your lifestyle remains the same, you will fail even though the drug has an unbeatable track record — fifty years of safe and effective treatment.

Shedding off pounds can be cheap

England has never seen this many cases of obesity. In June 2006 over a thousand people were diagnosed with overweight, making it the record. Don’t get us wrong, it is not new that overweight is a part of today but England has not known a time when this many people checked in with the same diagnose at the same time. All the patients confessed they are keen on fast-food and they eat up late at night. Some English also noted that cases of obesity are not new to their families. Anti-obesity treatment propaganda began in July 2006. After all the newspapers and internet blogs brought this topic up very few people became indifferent. England ended up being concerned that month. Many doctors were taken into live studious on BBC where they discussed the problems and possible medical interventions. When the “sufferers” were asked about their food dependency they say this “we can’t help the hunger”. That is what happens to people that have obesity diagnosis. They can’t control their food consumptions and of course, they never count calories. They also admitted they tried to get on a healthy diet but it would not work and the desire for a yummy cake slice overweighed rationality. But if you think about it, you can’t really blame these people. Obesity is a malady and it needs treatment. It is not something you can decide to get over today and lose weight tomorrow. It takes much strengths and dedication, the latter is very hard to find. You food can turn out to become your biggest enemy. “Junk food brings people pleasure; it gives them the taste of paradise and the body from hell.” This is how Doctor Rick Paterson described fast-food addictions. He also explained that some people do not understand how harmful weight gain is for them. Everything has a limit. There are people that get to a certain level because of their inability to cope with their appetite and there are people that take themselves to this level and don’t bother to care. When we asked Doctor Paterson about the treatment he said this: “You should want to treat yourself from obesity and it should be your own decision. Nobody can help you if you are not willing to help yourself.” When we asked him about the drug he usually prescribes from obesity is – he named Acomplia. He said this is a good medication that has active ingredients that suppress appetite and doesn’t give people discomfort. He also added this: “There are certain side-effects and special restrictions people should be aware about. If you are over 75, Acomplia is not good for you. If you have kidney or liver problems, if you ever suffered from a heart attack or a stroke, if you ever tried to commit a suicide, if you are allergic to drugs, take other medication or are about to get pregnant – please stay away from Acomplia.” It should be mentioned that those English people, back from June 2006, that were diagnosed with obesity were prescribed this drug. And it did help them. We will not lie and say that they saw a 100% result but some of them could boast with impressive scale numbers. We hope you know how to keep yourself away from the food that may do you wrong. That is what Doctor Paterson would advice you to do.
