What kind of birth control should I try next?

Question by Laura B: What kind of birth control should I try next?
I am 20 years old. I’ve been on some form of birth control for more than 4 years now.
At 15, I first tried the Depo Provera birth control shot. The first 3 months (1 shot) I bled every single day, which I hated. I got 1 more shot of Depo, and for those 3 months I didn’t bleed at all. I also went from weighing 130 pounds to weighing 195+ pounds in this time (I did have an increased appetite but not enough to gain 65 pounds in 3 months). I decided to STOP Depo and never ever have that in my body again.
For the next 2 yrs (until age 17) I had NO PERIOD WHATSOEVER. After going to the doctor I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycycstic Ovary Syndrome) and prescribed Metformin (to control blood sugar levels and hopefully help me lose some weight) and Levora (birth control pills to help resume my period).
Levora wasn’t what I wanted in a pill- I am not even sure why anymore since it was a while ago- so I stopped taking it.

All in all, I have used Levora, Zovia, Seasonique, Yaz, “The Shot,” “The Patch,” and most recently, NuvaRing.

I really enjoyed NuvaRing for the first year- but just in the past month or 2 I have started to have brown spotting CONSTANTLY. Every single day, many times a day. I can’t tell you how many nice pairs of underwear have been RUINED from this brown discharge. It does NOT come out of my panties even after using Shout and washing them.

I am just SICK AND TIRED of all the different side effects EVERY SINGLE type of birth control gives me!
And yeah, I really would like to stay on birth control because I have (monogamous) sex regularly and do not want to get pregnant, plus I find condoms irritating.

My full list of symptoms:
-terrible menstrual cramps
-extreme weight gain
-hair thinning/loss
-development of facial hair
-increased appetite
-brown discharge
-irritability/depression/indifference
-acne

I realize a lot of these may not be caused by birth control alone but by the fact that I also have PCOS.

I’m just sick of going to the doctor and them not owning up to their mistakes- first them misdiagnosing me- telling me I didn’t have PCOS- then calling me 1 hour after my appointment to tell me in a quite insensitive way that THEY screwed up, the doctor had NO IDEA who I was when I went in for my appointment- and that I DID have PCOS after all. And I’m tired of them criticizing me and lecturing me on my weight- I KNOW I’M FAT! YOUR medicines did this to me! Don’t you think I’m doing everything I can to lose this weight? I have lost most of my faith in the medical system by now.

Any women out there have the same constant trouble with hormonal birth control options? What seems to work for you?
SARAH- wow, thanks a lot for nothing. I already stated I am in a monogamous relationship, I am not sleeping around, so maybe you should try to answer the question that I asked rather than trying to preach your beliefs onto others who obviously have already made up their own minds.

Tips To Control Your Food Intake In Weight Loss

Contrary to popular belief, just because you want to lose weight doesn’t mean that you have to starve. Many people tend to starve or follow crash diets but nothing beats eating the right way and losing weight. I believe that if you eat the right foods, you will not only lose weight but also become healthy.

Like many people, I too have been following various eating plan that resulted in my weight going up and down. And then my friend told me that I’ve been doing all wrong. I should just eat what I’m used to eat and not simply something that I’ve  never come across just because a certain weight loss program told me to do so.
All you need to do is to adopt some restrains when you are eating. Or be smarter when you are at the dining table. Here are some of the tips to smarter meals…

Decrease your portions by half
Good news: You can lose weight and still enjoy your favorite foods.  You can do that by decreasing your portion sizes by half.  Take your typical dinner serving and decrease it by half. If you feel hungry afterwards, try supplementing your meal with fresh fruit or vegetables on the side.  Drink a lot of water. Eat slowly. After you eat, wait a few minutes to allow yourself to feel full.  You will probably notice you don’t feel the urge to eat as much.

Don’t eat a three-course meal at restaurants
When dining out, watch how much you are eating.  Most restaurants serve huge portions for the main course.  Eating an appetizer, main course, and desert is too much food. Many restaurants offer lunch size portions of their dishes, which are smaller than their full-size dinner entrees.

Don’t biggie-size anything
Fast food portions are normally too large.  Upsizing meals give you extra food you don’t need.  If you decide to eat fast food (which you shouldn’t actually), order the regular size or better still the kiddies size.

Start Reading Labels
Look carefully at the serving size for your food.  Find out how many servings you are actually consuming.  You will soon know how to measure a serving size simply by looking at the food.

No Buffets!!!
It is nearly impossible to practice portion control in an “all-you-can-eat” situation. Many individuals mistakenly eat as much as possible in a buffet.  This is not good for someone on a diet.

A homemaker who found her love of food and cooking works to her advantage. She now knows her healthy food. A surefire way to achieve weight loss goals. Today she shares the experiences over the internet.
Most people fail to lose weight on various weight loss programs as many are really hard to follow. There’s one sure and easy way to lose weight today and it’s called Calorie Shifting – a program that tricks your body into making your metabolism go faster. With Calorie Shifting, you’ll burn more calories and you’ll lose weight. If you’re serious about losing weight, I strongly suggest you look into Calorie Shifting.

Do your genes affect your weight?

As people have become more aware of genetics, a number of myths have been born. The most common is that the genes you inherit from your parents fix your body type and, no matter what you do, you cannot change it. This makes genetics a very convenient excuse when people are looking to explain why their latest diet is a failure. The reality is rather different. Genetics is science looking at the process that enables each new generation to inherit characteristics from the parental generation. People are deceived into believing that this science is very precise when researchers announce they have identified a particular gene responsible for an inherited disease. Science fiction stories have popularized the idea that parents will soon be able to order designer babies. Now the authors who are looking to sell their latest diet books have begun to push the idea that one size does not fit all genetic types. Rather, every individual has to assess their “genetic type” and then choose the most effective diet. The myth is being spread that basic human chemistry does not work in the same way across all human beings. “Experts” claim that people absorb carbohydrates, fat and protein in different ways. This difference can be measured by blood type, fingerprints and inside leg measurement, among other factors. Diets and exercise programs can be designed for individuals based on these factors. It seems science can help people lose weight.

Except, as in all cases, the myths are completely false. This is the old nature/nurture debate redesigned to fit into a newly recognized science. At present, there’s absolutely no evidence to show that the presence or absence of particular genes has any effect on obesity levels. No matter what the advertizers try to tell you, there’s no DNA/gene test to tell you anything useful about how to diet. The only evidence currently available that is relevant and of potential interest is that some genes do affect behavior including how quickly people feel full after eating. Obviously, if some people are slower to recognize their stomachs are full, they are more likely to overeat.

So how should people aim to lose weight? There’s one truth amongst all the myths. One-size does not fit all. The foods I like to eat may be the food you dislike the most. To keep up motivation for the diet, you do not just eat the same 1300 calories as everyone else. You should tailor the diet to your own likes and dislikes. If you put together a net-loss calorie menu including varieties of foods you like, you are far more likely to keep to the diet without getting bored. Now add in phentermine to keep your appetite in check, and you have made a good start to losing weight. Phentermine will overcome any genetic barrier to recognizing a full stomach. It’s the tried-and-tested drug that safely and effectively gives you control over the quantity you eat. With some exercise to burn additional calories, you will slowly see the pounds fall away.

Let your weight loss process begin

U.S.A is very familiar with the problem of weight gain. Every fourth person in the country suffers from obesity. Appetite suppressants seem to be the only solution for those that can’t control their appetite or have a food disorder. If you desperate to lose weight and you don’t want to harm the rest of the body you should know to have a healthy diet and do exercises every single day. But it is only for those who are strong-willed people with the ability to control their habits and actions. For those that don’t trust themselves with the right choice when it comes to food control – pills are the only option left.

Different drugs bring different effects to people. And this, in most cases, is due to the different organisms and different reactions for the same drug. But there is another aspect to everything that was mentioned above. The attitude towards the medication plays a very big part and can’t be ignored. Some of us don’t care enough to take the treatment seriously and we suffer for it later on. What usually happens is that people are unable to see the real reason for the side-effect if it is not their natural body reaction. They are willing to blame everyone from the doctor that prescribed the drug to the actual pill itself, accusing the manufacturer of inability to create a good medication. But the truth lies underneath it all. Those problematic people are not able to admit that they didn’t do enough to recover and get their body to feel better and healthier.

If you suffer from immediate weight gain don’t let yourself think that when you stop eating at all it will all change. No! All you will do with this action is create even more complications for your health and turn this temporary problem into a long-lasting problem for yourself and your doctor in the future. Don’t give yourself a chance to starve. You need to reduce the hunger, not make yourself a sick person that doesn’t eat or want to eat at all. This is not healthy! Your body organs will be damaged and you might need a new different medication together with the weight loss one. Drinking alcohol is strictly banned and it doesn’t matter which pill you are about to take. No appetite reducing pill allows it.

Most appetite suppressants are used on an empty stomach so if you know you have a reaction on pills before you eat food in the morning; mid-day or evening please talk to your doctor about this matter. You should know not to have any secrets from the person you apply for advice to. He needs to be aware of all your reactions and side-effects on previous medications even if you think they are not related to this case. Keep that in mind.

If you want to purchase your appetite suppressant online, it is better to take some time to research more. There are plenty of web pages that are willing to sell you Phentermine for a good price but you should remember that reading reviews is not enough. You should make sure the drug is right for you and only you. Phentermine is a good medication to take in the obesity cases but it is always better to get medical advice from a specialist before you buy Phentermine from internet. It is also recommended to not exceed the given (prescribed) dose of the medication as it is not going to do you any favor. On the contrary, you might regret being this silly later on. So in order to avoid this regret – stay smart and let the drug give you the effect you expect to receive from the consumption.

Shedding off pounds can be cheap

England has never seen this many cases of obesity. In June 2006 over a thousand people were diagnosed with overweight, making it the record. Don’t get us wrong, it is not new that overweight is a part of today but England has not known a time when this many people checked in with the same diagnose at the same time. All the patients confessed they are keen on fast-food and they eat up late at night. Some English also noted that cases of obesity are not new to their families. Anti-obesity treatment propaganda began in July 2006. After all the newspapers and internet blogs brought this topic up very few people became indifferent. England ended up being concerned that month. Many doctors were taken into live studious on BBC where they discussed the problems and possible medical interventions. When the “sufferers” were asked about their food dependency they say this “we can’t help the hunger”. That is what happens to people that have obesity diagnosis. They can’t control their food consumptions and of course, they never count calories. They also admitted they tried to get on a healthy diet but it would not work and the desire for a yummy cake slice overweighed rationality. But if you think about it, you can’t really blame these people. Obesity is a malady and it needs treatment. It is not something you can decide to get over today and lose weight tomorrow. It takes much strengths and dedication, the latter is very hard to find. You food can turn out to become your biggest enemy. “Junk food brings people pleasure; it gives them the taste of paradise and the body from hell.” This is how Doctor Rick Paterson described fast-food addictions. He also explained that some people do not understand how harmful weight gain is for them. Everything has a limit. There are people that get to a certain level because of their inability to cope with their appetite and there are people that take themselves to this level and don’t bother to care. When we asked Doctor Paterson about the treatment he said this: “You should want to treat yourself from obesity and it should be your own decision. Nobody can help you if you are not willing to help yourself.” When we asked him about the drug he usually prescribes from obesity is – he named Acomplia. He said this is a good medication that has active ingredients that suppress appetite and doesn’t give people discomfort. He also added this: “There are certain side-effects and special restrictions people should be aware about. If you are over 75, Acomplia is not good for you. If you have kidney or liver problems, if you ever suffered from a heart attack or a stroke, if you ever tried to commit a suicide, if you are allergic to drugs, take other medication or are about to get pregnant – please stay away from Acomplia.” It should be mentioned that those English people, back from June 2006, that were diagnosed with obesity were prescribed this drug. And it did help them. We will not lie and say that they saw a 100% result but some of them could boast with impressive scale numbers. We hope you know how to keep yourself away from the food that may do you wrong. That is what Doctor Paterson would advice you to do.

Genetics and weight loss

Look around the bookshops and read some of the reviews for the latest books on weight loss and there’s a new buzzword on offer. It seems the genes you inherit from your parents change the way your body absorbs fat and carbohydrates. Gone are the days when a one-size-fits-all diet would sell like the proverbial hot cakes (unsweetened, of course). Now we are into the idea of personalized diets with DNA kits and gene testing offered as the way of designing the most effective way for you to lose those unwanted pounds. Except, there’s no science to support any of these claims. Myths help separate you from your money. The truth remains boring and does not sell many books. Let’s start with the facts. The science of genetics has been around for centuries. Farmers, sports fans and governments have been selectively breeding animals (and plants) for their taste, speed or killing abilities. The results can be seen everywhere you buy food, on the race track, in the police and military compounds, and so on. There’s nothing new in aiming to select characteristics to transmit through the generations. And that’s where the science stops and the science fiction takes over. Although some scientists can now identify individual genes that may contribute to different characteristics, there’s no such thing as gene splicing – no designer babies for us humans to order – and no proven link between any combination of genes and human body weight. Human body chemistry stays the same no matter what genetic make-up you have. What does change, and sometimes quite dramatically, is behavior. If you travel back to a time when people ate less processed food in smaller quantities, you find most children grew up thin. Now look around. Children are surrounded by peers and authority figures who all eat large portions of unhealthy processed food and the children get overweight. This has nothing to do with genetics. This is socialisation in a country that eats too much unhealthy food. Using genetics is an excuse when people fail to keep to a diet. They claim they cannot lose weight because their genes make them big. They are then suckered when they see claims that only by paying for gene testing can an effective diet be devised for them. This is a sad state of affairs. You can only lose weight by making lifestyle changes. You have to eat less and exercise more. If you feel hungry when you start a diet, a drug like phentermine is available to control the hunger pangs. Phentermine has been on the market for some fifty years and remains the scientifically proven way of controlling your appetite. So long as you avoid feeling hungry, it’s easy to stay on the diet and feel the weight fall away. Overall, you are following a simple rule. So long as you burn more calories than you eat, you will lose weight. If this means increasing your activity rate, rise from your couch and go for regular brisk walks. A calorie-reduced diet combined with exercise and supported by phentermine is the one-size fits-all-genetic types approach to weight loss.

With people around the world thanking him for his professional approach of discussing the topic, Vasia is a frequent writer for http://www.phentermineguide.net/articles/genetics-and-weight-loss.html and is happy to share his vision with you there.

Diet Pills

Weight loss problems start in the brain

Obesity is a widely-popular problem that unites people from different nations and different countries. Over the past decades we have read many articles about this disease and the ways of losing weight without having any further trouble but most of it seemed to be useless as the obesity problem still exists in the world of today. Many doctors prescribe various pills and medications that are meant to hold the food-dependent adults away from it. Some of the obesity sufferers reach the peak of the illness. That is where they should take it as seriously as possible and treat it more as a sickness than a simple food dependency. We don’t really know how many different obesity treatments are there but we do know for sure there are plenty enough of them to choose from. Some of the drugs are short-term ones and are meant for those people that are at the first stage with the treatment. Those short-term pills are less dangerous and have a capsule-shaped size. These drugs can be bought in strengths of 15, 30 and 37.5 milligram. How do the obesity release drugs work? What such a pill does is suppress your appetite to the minimum through the central mechanism in the brain of the person. Many doctors that are dealing with obesity on the daily job basis insist that it all starts in the head. They claim that any type of dependency can be eliminated if you work with people’s head and sort it out. What each of us should know is that no matter at what stage you are with the obesity problem – you should not mix the suppressant medicine and try to go for a bigger dose than you should do in order to see a better result. Usually it gives the complete opposite effect and damages the body even more. If you happen to meet any specialist and have a long serious talk with him about the weight loss problems he will tell you this – before you start to take any medication you should change your attitude towards the problem. How does it happen that some people in the same health state have different results by the end of the treatment? The answer is simple. They treat the matter with the different approach. You should keep the faith and want to recover. For no second should you think that it won’t get back to normal. Everything is in your hands. But it won’t happen on its own. You need to control the food you eat and do exercises to get your body in the perfect shape. The lifestyle is important too. Try to spend more time outdoors. If you have a possibility to run and jump during the day – do so. You should have a scheduled diet and stick to it everyday. It is necessary to know that no drug will guarantee you to cure you or give you the promised result. Such pills as Phentermine will give you a chance to have your obesity treated with their help but you should not lift your hopes up with the drug when you simply cannot stop eating fast-food. Remember to take the issue seriously. We would recommend you to go for a drug called Phentermine in case you do not trust yourself with a pill-free treatment. But anyway before you buy Phentermine online or in the closest drug-store- please consult your doctor about it and make sure you are totally comfortable with the treatment as it is not the last thing on the list.

Abdominal Fat Loss

There are a lot of books and products that talk about reducing abdominal fat. There is no food, no exercise, and no herb that will cause your body to remove fat in one place versus another.

Success Stories:Click here

If you want to reduce abdominal fat, you need to start consuming fewer calories than you expend on a daily basis. We all know that eating fast food everyday, or never eating fruits and vegetables is bad for us. We need to eat a well balanced ab diet whether we’re trying to lose abdominal fat, or just live a healthy lifestyle.

If you are a male, abdominal fat is probably the last fat that will disappear from your body. First your body will remove fat from your face and extremities, such as your arms and legs, then it will remove fat from your upper torso, your chest, upper thighs and buttocks, and lastly it will use the fat stored in your abdomen. There is no way that I’m aware of to alter this abdominal fat pattern used by the human body

The Diet Industry’s Nasty Secrets Finally Revealed:Click here

This means if you are really serious about reducing abdominal fat and you want to get rid of that abdominal fat, you’re going to have to take a whole-body approach. You’re going to have to get used to the idea that abdominal fat is probably going to be the last fat to go. This isn’t what you wanted to hear, probably, but it’s the truth.

Learn the 5 big Truths:Click here

For women, this means the last place you’re likely to lose the fat is on the hips and buttocks. This is something you may have already observed if you’ve ever tried to lose body fat, or if you’ve made some progress but couldn’t seem to get rid of that last bit of so called “stubborn” body fat.
I’ve also found from experience that it’s virtually impossible to lose abdominal fat if you don’t engage in routine physical exercise. And abs exercises are included in that exercise. By engaging in strength training, you will end up burning abdominal fat for hours and even days after your exercise session. There are also a lot of things you can do in terms of controlling your consumption of carbohydrates and altering natural hormone levels in the body to help reduce body fat.But you’re never going to have total success with fat loss unless you also engage in regular physical exercise and pursue a healthy diet.

There are some common myths about training and dieting like for instance that you should train your abs everyday. So I don’t need to exercise to lose abdominal fat?

No, you need to exercise, how ever 100 crunches or sit-ups aren’t the right exercise. You want to be doing activities that burn calories, not just contribute to muscle growth. What type of activities?

  • Aerobics, pilates, yoga
  • Circuit training
  • Combo weight training with multiple muscle groups
