It will reduce stress on our heart, reducing the chance of heart disease, cancer, possibility of diabetes; feel better, look more attractive, etc. </p>
<p>There are 101 reasons why, but it can be a real pain to finally get that weight off. You push really hard, make a little progress, get side tracked, and bam you are heavier then you started.  </p>
<p>It’s maddening.  Enough with that hassle, I have put together 5 simple steps to actually losing weight and keeping it off. These steps can be applied to anything, but we are focusing on weight loss here. </p>
<p><strong>1.    Know What You Want<br />2.    Know Where You Are<br />3.    Track Your Results <br />4.    Make Course Corrections <br />5.    Being held Accountable</strong></p>
<p>Now all your extra weight will effortlessly melt off.  Yeah right! A simple list of 5 items is not going to do it, so let me explain the intricacies of the 5 items and where the hang up normally occurs when applied to losing weight. </p>
<p><strong>1.    Know What You Want </strong></p>
<p>This one is dead simple. Most people that want to lose weight have an idea of how many pounds they would like to lose or how they would like their body to look. </p>
<p>I think we can safely say if your body started looking the way you wanted it, you would know, even if you didn’t have it completely mapped out and detailed. </p>
<p><strong>2.    Know Where You Are </strong></p>
<p>This is the big trip up. It is almost always overlooked and is the number one reason for the up and down Yo Yo effect we experience with losing weight. We are unhappy with how our body feels and how it looks and it is painful to zoom in and get an accurate picture of where we are. Unfortunately, we have to know where we are, to be able to accurately judge the results we are getting. </p>
<p>You are on a trip to San Diego, California. You would like to start your trip from Phoenix, Arizona, but you really don’t know where you are. No problem.  You get an Arizona/California map and find that a simple 6 hours trip west on interstate 8 will get you to San Diego. </p>
<p>6 hours later, you have no clue where you are and it is definitely not warm San Diego.  You feel defeated and you want to give up!  Do you blame the car? The stupid maps? San Diego? Yourself?</p>
<p>Now what if I told you, you were actually in New Your City, not Phoenix, Arizona. A 6 hour car ride west from New York City will never get you to San Diego.</p>
<p>If you took the time to accurately find out where you were, you would have been able to choose the appropriate means to get to San Diego and have an expectation as to how long it would take.</p>
<p>This is the same with weight loss and our personal physical condition. In our minds, we think we are starting in a different physical condition then we really are. When the results don’t follow the illusion in your mind, we get upset. </p>
<p><strong>3. Track Your Results </strong></p>
<p>This is conceptually simple. If we have no clue as to WHAT we are doing, how do we know what is working? It might be a simple to do, but is also simple not to do. In the end, most people never track their results.</p>
<p><strong>4. Make Course Corrections </strong></p>
<p>We love to do this one. We have it hands down. It is like step 1 of knowing what you want. We try the new food diet, the super sit up machine, and the cardio hip hop power energy yoga fat burner class. </p>
<p>We might be great at switching it up, but without knowing where we are starting from and a history of tracked results, we have no clue as to what we should change or even which direction we should go. </p>
<p><strong>5. Being held Accountable</strong></p>
<p>No, not accountability! That is an evil word. I don’t want someone to know what I am doing, or more importantly what I am not doing. </p>
<p>So, why do we resist accountability, your secret weapon to weight loss?  Because it works!  If you know someone is going to be watching, you would follow through or at least feel very uncomfortable not following through.</p>
<p>Accountability when used wisely is the ultimate turbo booster to your weight loss. Since you are going to be accountable anyway, you might as well get something out of it. </p>
<p>Using accountability up front, you can achieve the body of your dreams. If you let your body hold you accountable, it will throw on fat in places you don’t want it to be.  </p>
<p>The biggest obstacle to weight loss is not taking any action. It doesn’t matter how good the plan is, it is worthless if you don’t follow it. So what do I do now? </p>
<p>First and foremost get Accountable.</p>

Although we may feel strongly about the need to shed those extra pounds and to get ourselves back into shape, it is an uphill battle if the most important people in our lives are not in our corner.</p>
<p>It isn’t like we need “support” or some goofy group hug from people, but we definitely need to let them know that we are serious about this weight loss deal and that some changes have to be made in our lives that may affect the way we relate to one  another.</p>
<p>For some reason, when I first attempted to lose weight, I was laughed at. Friends and family made fun of my shot to lose weight which I must say was very demoralizing. I guess they are used to make fun of a ‘fat’ me and anything I did was something to be laughed at. The thing is that such unsupportive gesture will most probably affect your attempt to lose weight and</p>
<p>Research shows that dieters are more likely to change their ways if they feel they have the support of family, a close friend, or a coworker. Along with eating more vegetables and smaller portions, those on a quest to lose weight can get family members or friends to join them to lift weights or go for walks regularly. That’ll be more fun.</p>
<p> The workout buddies can even try activities they wouldn’t have done alone, like yoga and badminton. <br />Here are some tips for getting friends and family to support your desire to lose weight:</p>
<p>Be up-front. Let friends and family know you’re making changes in your eating habits. Most would probably set their goals very high, that is to lose a lot of pounds in a shortest possible time. There is nothing wrong with thinking big, but don&#8217;t make your goals so big as though they become overwhelming and intimidating to you! Just remember that if you stretch your weight loss goals so far, more often than not you would feel tempted to quit your weight loss program altogether! Start slow and smartly and before you know it you will see how easy it is to shed those stubborn pounds!</p>
<p>2. Be reasonable: Yes, do not attempt weight loss program that require you to change your lifestyle overnight. Yu should know your body and limitations. Do not be overzealous as it would only back-fired. For example, if today I ask you to avoid eating junk foods altogether, will you be able to follow my advice? You will probably try hard to avoid junk foods for a day or two, and by doing that, you will be all the more tempted to take a bite of your favorite fatty foods. <p>Here is an easier way to do it: instead of trying to cut down on your junk food intake entirely, try to replace one junk food with one good food. Do you normally take butter? Well, substitute that with peanut butter. Then later, swap burgers with a healthier snack like raw carrots! Similarly, if you eat white breads, slowly replace that with wholegrain wheat breads. </p>
<p>You won&#8217;t be able to accomplish all of these changes overnight, but you will be able to achieve your goals if you do it slowly, bit by bit. Eventually you will realise that you have completely replaced your bad foods with the healthy foods, but without going through any stress or temptation!</p>
<p>3. Exercise: Or at least adopt a more active lifestyle. It’s time for you to get moving. Start walking. Join a gym. Play a game. Do whatever necessary to get you sweat. <p>In fact, researchers found that if a person drank 17 ounces of water, he or she may be burning as much as 30% more calories than when those who didn&#8217;t drink the water. The raised metabolic rate lasted, on average, for half an hour. </p>
<p>Increasing water intake obviously speeds up metabolism and enables your body to better digest nutrients from the foods and nutritional supplements you consume, the result being natural and healthy weight loss. </p>
<p>&#8220;What exactly is &#8216;metabolism&#8217;, anyway?&#8221; Merriam Webster defines it as, &#8220;The process by which a substance is handled in the body.&#8221; A little unclear, but that&#8217;s really all it means.  </p>

Overeating or eating too fast, feeding cravings and emotions not hunger, eating calorie-concentrated foods with lack of physical activity, all lead to unwanted weight-gain.   </p>
<p>Much of what we eat feeds cravings and addictions rather than nutritional needs.  The problem with feeding a craving is two-fold: we crave all the wrong things, fat, salt and processed sugar.  When is the last time you had a “big carrot attack”?  The second problem is, cravings cannot be satisfied, hence we overeat far too much of the wrong kinds of food.    </p>
<p>This is where fasting can help and is a great new beginning.   </p>
<p>My own experience was no exception. I still remember when I was starting on my diet many years ago where I was having problem to stick to it.</p>
<p>As I love food so much, refraining from eating and forcing myself to eat something else (you know like the greens and in small portion) was really a gargantuan task. </p>
<p>Finally I decided to fast. Somehow, as I grew up fasting constantly due to my religion requirement I find fasting rather easy. I fast I did and in no time, I started to lose weight. </p>
<p>One thing for sure is fasting provides a tangible starting point for any of us to kick off our weight loss program. It’s probably like a marriage where there must be a divorce before there can be remarriage. Interestingly, most people are more intimately involved with their eating than they are with their spouses.  </p>
<p>So, fasting effectively serves the ‘divorce papers’ to your former food-lovers. There is remorse, yearning, some testify to loneliness, as if an old friend has died.  Makes sense, addiction is always there, waiting to comfort empty emotions, a comfort that comes at a great price.    </p>
<p>Clear starting points are important to change.  Over years of compromise you may have effortlessly fallen into physical disrepair.  Moving toward health is an uphill climb, demanding a strong exercising of your will-muscle.  Fasting is a great way to start working that muscle out. </p>
<p>And fasting will build powerful momentum, from a dead standstill to exciting motion. We all need a push in the right direction, fasting is just that.  </p>
<p>Having said that, never use fasting as your primary source of keeping weight off.  The secret is to learn how to fast healthy and eat healthy.  You fast to lose weight, than you eat in a way to keep the weight off.  That&#8217;s balance. </p>
